Objective:
To create a timeline of your child's life.
Directions: For our final project, you and your child
will be creating a timeline of your child's life.
First, discuss timelines with your family. Then,
help your child to select 4-6 important moments in their
life. Use white paper no larger than 6x6 inches to
show each event. Each event should have a picture,
be labeled, and include the event's date. You can
attach photos or draw pictures for each one and decorate
in any way you would like. The first picture on the
timeline should be the day your child was born. The
last picture should be current. Some ideas for the
other four: first word, first tooth, first steps,
first haircut, first day of preschool, vacations,
holidays, or first day of kindergarten.
Finally
think of a way you can assemble the events all
together. They should be side by side and in
chronological order. All timelines should have a
title including the author displayed somewhere as well
(for example, "John's First Five Years" by John Smith).
Due Date: Timelines
should
be completed by Tuesday, May 4, and returned to school to
share on or before that day.
Children will present their timeline to the
class. So, make sure your child practices what he or
she will say about each event. Projects will be
displayed, so they must be able to be easily hung on a
bulletin board.
One
Final Note: Family
projects were intended to not only be a fun way to spend
quality time together but also to be creative, to feel
proud about the finished project, to create a kindergarten
keepsake, and to learn to sit in front of a group and
present. The students have come a long way! I
hope you enjoyed our projects as much as I
have!
