Objective:
To use a pattern (AB, ABB, ABC, etc.) to decorate a
tree.
Directions: You will be provided with a blank tree
template for this project. Your job is to place
decorations on the tree in a pattern of your choice.
For example, you could use an AB pattern for the lights
(red, green, red, green) or an ABC pattern for the
ornaments (star, bell, candle, star, bell, candle).
As always, be creative! You can use crayons,
markers, cereal, beads, etc. to create the patterns on
your tree. When decorating your tree, you can keep
the same pattern throughout (easiest) or you can try
making a different pattern for each row of decorations
(challenging). When you finish decorating the tree,
ask your child to describe the patterns.
Due Date: Trees
should be completed by Thursday,
December 3,
and returned to school to share on or before that day.
Children will present their tree to the class
and they will be asked to orally identify the patterns on
their tree. All trees will
be put on display.
